• Casterline|Goodman Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Alexander Höller, whose paintings pulse with raw energy, saturated color, and fearless expression. Höller’s canvases are not passive objects—they are charged surfaces where gesture, tension, and emotion collide.

Working within a contemporary neo-expressionist language, Höller builds compositions through instinctive movement, aggressive mark-making, and vibrant color. Faces, forms, and symbols emerge and dissolve within layered fields of paint, creating works that feel both immediate and intensely physical.

For Höller, painting is an act of confrontation as much as creation. Each canvas carries a sense of urgency—an unfiltered translation of thought and emotion into visual form. The result is work that activates the wall and demands engagement from the viewer. On view now through April 15, 2026. To inquire about these works, contact us at gallery@casterlinegoodman.com.

Alexander Höller (b. 1996, Germany) is a contemporary painter whose dynamic abstractions explore the psychological and sensory impact of color, texture, and movement. Working primarily with acrylic, spray paint, and mixed media, Höller creates large-scale compositions that merge gestural mark-making with layered surfaces, producing works that oscillate between chaos and harmony. His paintings are driven by intuition and energy, often evoking the rhythm of music, urban environments, and the emotional states that accompany modern life.

Höller’s practice centers on the physical act of painting. He builds his compositions through successive layers of pigment—drips, splashes, scratches, and sweeping strokes—allowing chance and spontaneity to guide the process. These accumulations of color and material create richly textured surfaces that invite viewers to move through the work visually, discovering moments of intensity, balance, and pause within the broader composition.

Influenced by the legacy of postwar abstraction and street culture alike, Höller bridges traditional painterly concerns with a contemporary sensibility. His works often incorporate bold color contrasts and graffiti-like gestures that convey immediacy and momentum, while the underlying structures reveal a careful orchestration of form and space.

Höller’s paintings have been exhibited internationally and collected across Europe and the United States. Through his practice, he continues to push the expressive possibilities of abstraction, creating immersive works that capture both the raw energy of the present moment and the contemplative depth of painting as a medium.
