The introduction of color, during the mid-twentieth century, has transformed our way of seeing. Movies, photography, magazines, and advertisements are now multicolor, but in the beginning it was so expensive that magazines, for example, reserved color only for the cover of their issues, and did not spread it to their pages until the end of the twentieth century. Today, the media has made color an essential part of our visual experience, overlooking the black and white image as dated.

Casterline|Goodman's Black and White with Color Balance takes us back to the importance of the black and white image, and challenges the audience to contemplate the work's organic form. By using a simplified color pallet, the show also emphasizes the works choice of medium, which can be masked by color. Gallery owner, Robert Casterline, states, "The simplest, yet sometimes most powerful, form of art is the black and white image. Black and White with Color Balance shows how important the medium is to the viewer; where only a little bit of color is needed to give the complete picture of what the artist is truly trying to say."
